Responsibilities, Actions and Results (RAR)
A Common Mistake
One of the more common issues that you will find in CVs is where candidates simply write a list of responsibilities for each of their previous roles. (As per a job description).
However today, recruiters and employers are increasingly looking for evidence of results delivered from actions taken in the execution of day-to-day responsibilities.
An example
As sales manager opened up a new distribution channel that immediately resulted in a 23% increase in total sales increasing to 30% over the next nine months.
This allows recruiters and potential employers to see you as someone who will add significant value if they were to offer you the job on offer as opposed to just someone who will carry out the basic day to day responsibilities as per the job description.
Standing out from the Crowd
Given that the vast majority of CVs simply regurgitate the current or previous job descriptions anyone who puts the time and effort in to adopting the RAR approach will really stand out and in such a positive way.

Ideal Interview Preparation
Another key benefit of this approach is that it really helps to frame the interview itself as in all likelihood the interviewer will be very keen to explore these achievements in more detail, so it acts as a very powerful interview preparation technique also.

Finally
Once the achievements using the RAR approach have been written up for each position then these can be further summarised in career highlights and place above the fold (towards the top) of the CV so that the reader will see the best career examples almost at first glance along with a powerful opening professional summary and a clear list of your core skills.
